6 Ways To Hang Apples For Feeding Birds

Suitable For: Age (10+)   Time Needed: 5 Minutes

What You Need: String, Cable Ties, A Wire Coat Hanger, Garden Wire

Tools Required: Wire Cutters, Scissors

In this short ‘How To’ guide I’ll show you six different ways to hang apples in your garden for garden birds.

Option 1

Wire Coat Hanger

Straighten a wire coat hanger. Form it into a T shape and then use it to skewer the apples. Hook the end to hang.

Option 2

Garden Wire

Cut a length of garden wire (coated in green plastic) and bend it into a T shape. Skewer the apples using the garden wire. You could also add wooden BBQ skewers as extra perches.

Option 3

Use A Fat Ball Feeder

You could simply use a fat ball feeder to hold the apples. Slice them in half before placing them in the feeder.

Option 4

A Large Screw And String

Tie a loop of string to a large screw. Twist the screw through the apple and hang.

Option 5

Use Corn On The Cob Spikes

Do you have a set of corn on the cob spike holders in the kitchen drawer? Tie one to either end of a piece of string, twist into the apple and hang.

Option 6

Use A Cable Tie

You could use a large cable tie. Skewer an apple and then thread the cable tie through. Join the ends and hang.
