Make A Garden Bird Drinker Out Of Recycled Materials

Providing water for birds during this hot weather is vitally important. Find out how I make a simple garden bird ‘drinker’ using recycled materials.

Using the same principle as I used for my ‘Hedgehog Water Station‘ I wanted to try and find a way of creating a hanging water source for garden birds. But this time I wanted to use as few tools and materials as possible.

You can see my first attempt below. All I used to create this was…

[custom_list style=”list-1″]
  • A Robinsons squash bottle
  • A 1.5lt fizzy drinks bottle
  • Some String
  • An elastic band
  • And a pair of scissors

I cut the base off of the 1.5lt bottle to create the water bowl. Using the elastic band with the string enables you to easily adjust the position of the bowl and move it out of the way to refill the bottle.

I’ve hung the garden bird drinker from a tree in the shade and will keep an eye on it to see if any birds use it. I’ll share some pics if I get any! Once I’ve perfected the design I’ll add it as one of my ‘How To’ guides along with the Hedgehog Water Station.
