Today saw the start of the nesting season in the Wildlife Gadgetman garden with the discovery of a pair of Robins building a nest.
I had noticed the Robins hanging around the Ivy covered archway through to the rear garden for the past few days but today I noticed one of them making continuous visits to one particular spot with beaks full of leaves and moss etc.
Nesting has begun!
I have a number of camera set ups that I’ve developed over the years that enable me to position a camera overlooking a nest in just a few seconds. So, timing my activity between visits by the bird, I positioned one of my HD cams overlooking the nest site.
To be honest the Robins took me a little by surprise as I wasn’t expecting any nesting activity this early in the year especially as the weather has been so awful.
Here is a short clip showing the activity.
Nest Diaries Added To Website
I’ve also added a new section to the website for 2014 called ‘Nest Diaries‘ This is where I will keep a daily record of all the nests I monitor throughout the year. You can find the new section under the Live Cams heading in the top navigation menu.
HD Live Cam Now LIVE!
The HD cam overlooking the nest area is now streaming live on the website during daylight hours.
